Miniature Pinschers - Responsible Breeding
Not all healthy Miniature Pinschers should be bred. In fact, there is no medical reason to breed a dog. Some dog owners claim they want to breed their Miniature Pinscher in order to get an exact replica of their adored animal. However, those who think it possible are mistaken. Puppies produced are a combination of both parents and grandparents.
Many dogs have some faults in structure, health or temperament. Breeding Miniature Pinschers must be proven free of faults and genetically inherited diseases. Registration with a kennel club does not necessarily indicate high quality.
First time breeders have not yet earned a good reputation, and finding buyers for all puppies from the litter can be a problem. Consider the time and expenses you will have to spend. The dam must be vaccinated and cleared of communicable diseases before breeding. The liter consisting of seven puppies on the average will need food, veterinary care, tail surgery and much more. Be ready for sleepless nights and some extra days off from work.
Breeding should be done only with two genetically sound dogs. Breeding for short-term results will not bring you a good reputation. A responsible breeder should be interested in the welfare of the breed and strive for the improvement of Miniature Pinschers with every liter that they produce.
